Tim McGraw: Set This Circus Down

I should be honest up front and say that I’m a big Tim McGraw fan. His music transcends genre’s and defies expectations. No other artist in recent memory has been able to succeed commercially while pushing the boundaries of what an artist can and cannot do like Tim has over the past few years. With that said, my favorite Tim McGraw album remains “Set This Circus Down“. From start to finish there is a real sense that you’re listening to something special. There are the obvious songs that jump out at you..
- Cowboy In Me
- Unbroken
- Angry All The Time
But the real magic comes from less heralded tracks such as..
- You Get Used To Somebody
- Why We Said Good-bye
- Smilin
There’s something here for everyone, and while not as polished as some of Tim’s latest efforts, this one still shines. As an aside, Tim did not take his band into the studio on this one, so there is a different style and sound to the songs throughout. Buddy Jewel later went on to record “Why We Said Good-bye” on his debut effort interestingly enough, but for me, it doesn’t match the level of sorrow and loss that comes through as Tim delivers it on this CD. This has to be one of my top 10 favorite CD’s of all time for any genre, and I strongly suggest you pick it up and add it to your collection. On a scale from 1 to 10, this one gets a 9.
